Story:
Komal (Vishwak Sen) is a struggling film director grappling with repeated career setbacks. Desperate to revive his stalled project after the budget goes overboard, he tries to win over Chitra (Kayadu Lohar), the producer’s daughter. As Komal navigates professional chaos and personal equations, the film unfolds as a satire on the film industry.

The film positions itself as a self-aware comedy that pokes fun at the workings of mainstream cinema. From exaggerated mythological elements to the growing obsession with cinematic universes and franchises, the film takes playful digs at familiar industry patterns. However, the narrative itself remains thin, functioning more as a string of comic episodes than a cohesive story.

The film’s biggest strength is its humour, though it is inconsistent. While a few punchlines land effectively and evoke genuine laughs, several others feel stretched or repetitive. The reliance on comedy to drive the film exposes the thinness of the plot, making engagement fluctuate across scenes.

Vishwak Sen fits the role of a desperate but misunderstood filmmaker, but his performance feels convincing only in parts. Kayadu Lohar performs well as Chitra, bringing ease to her role. However, their chemistry is undermined by a weak script. Naresh leaves a mark despite limited screen time, and the supporting cast delivers steady performances. Cameos by popular directors and producers add an interesting touch and enhance the film’s appeal.

That said, the editing — particularly in the second half — weakens the overall impact. The film often feels like a compilation of skits rather than a smoothly flowing narrative. While it attempts to highlight the struggles of those working behind the scenes in cinema, this angle is not explored with enough depth to leave a lasting impression.

Ultimately, Funky works best as a light, comedy-driven entertainer. It has its moments but struggles with consistency.
