Ashi Hi Ashiqui Story: Swayam and Amarja are in love. But when Amarja declares she has been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, the couple decides to get married despite being quite young to take the leap.

Ashi Hi Ashiqui Review: In 2002, the film A Walk to Remember starring Mandy Moore and Shane West dealt with a similar premise. The film's script, though devoid of drama, created magic on the screen because of its simplicity and the strong chemistry between the lead couple. Ashi hi Ashiqui tries to incorporate a little extra drama in a similar story but that works against the film.

Swayam (Abhinay Berde) seeks help from Amarja (Hemal Ingle) to impress his crush Mona. However, he ends up falling in love with Amarja and what ensues is a college romance between the two, which goes on through the first half of the film. But an unfortunate road accident threatens the couple’s happy union. To spend the remainder of their time together, ticking off the wishes from their bucket lists, Swayam and Amarja decide to get married.

At first, this Sachin Pilgaonkar film hints at a mushy romance but things soon change tracks. With better execution and chemistry between the lead pair, the film could have had a better impact on the viewers. And although a little cheesiness is a given while portraying a young couple in love, going over the top can go against the progress of the film, which is exactly what happens here. The second half of the film feels cliched and draws many resemblances from Dasvidaniya, the 2008 film starring Vinay Pathak. But there is a twist in the end.

As for acting, Abhinay is unable to live up to the expectations from him. Hemal is sincere in her performance, but fails to make a mark, mainly because the weak script does not give her much scope to prove her skills. Although he has performed very well, Sunil Barve’s acting skills have been wasted in this film.

A strong screenplay could have been as game-changer in for this script. But due to the the lack of both, a strong script and good execution, AHA fails to keep the viewer engaged.
