The age-old classic tale of Lord Vishnu, Srinivasa Avatharam, is all set to be retold as a musical. Called Fall In Love With The Lord, it’s being presented by R Giridharan alongside Karthikeya Murthy, today at Narada Gana Sabha.

“We have done the musical by taking a few highlights from Srinivas Avatharam. It will be a one-hour-long show. The music will be contemporary — more on the lines of new-age cine songs instead of Carnatic songs,” says Giridharan.

The story will start when Lord Vishnu arrives on earth as Srinivasa in search of Goddess Lakshmi (now Padmavathy, daughter of Chola King Akasa Rajan, the ruler of Thondai Mandalam). The musical will trace his journey — from his separation from Lakshmi earlier in Vaikuntam and his meeting with Padmavathyto how their wedding unfolds with a special ‘condition’.

“The musical will be performed by 25 dancers and the choreography is by Latha Rajagopalan. We have used lyrics of Bharathiyar, Kamban and Valluvar. I’ve composed the songs, written the screenplay and some lyrics, too,” he adds, “The story will be narrated through a music and dance presentation in seven chapters, each named after the seven hills, the abode of Srinivasa.”
