When the English sang Indian songs
Chennai-based Satish Raghunathan continues to celebrate Independence Day in his own way. The 26-year-old, who has just completed his masters in music from Berklee College of Music, has composed a song for Independence Day.
I had recently recorded a song dedicated to Bharatham at Abbey Road Studio, which is a dream come true. But thats not it. It is a matter of pride to have conducted an orchestra of 50 English men, who were all playing Indian patriotic songs.

I have a pre and post-Independence bit in the song that glorifies the struggle of our freedom fighters, says Satish. A trained classical musician, Satish is keen to join the music industry and is in talks with a few people from the industry.
Hollywood has simple story lines, but what makes the difference is the background score. We have real stories that can be delivered in a better method. I believe it is the music composers ability to read the script and then deliver, he says. A fan of music maestro Ilaiyaraaja, Satish says that he would like to work on profound melodies and sensitive subjects.
