Shobika Murukesan, singer, composer and vocal trainer, has come up with a song dedicated to
Lord Shiva
on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. The song titled
Sivapuranam
has been sung and composed by Shobika herself. “The song is from
Thiruvasagam
and I have lent it a unique touch so that it provides a soothing effect to listeners. I had earlier written, composed, and sung a song dedicated to Sai Baba called Shirdi Naatha.”
On the film front, Shobika has sung a song in Amala Paul’s Marijuana and has also been dubbed for the actress. “I had first sung the song Énga Ooru in Thittivaasal. When I was singing a song in Marijuana, the makers wanted to test my voice as a dubbing artiste. It suited the lead actress and thus, my journey as a dubbing artiste started. Now, I am dubbing in two more films,” says Shobika.
The engineering graduate has been testing waters in
music
from the young age of four. “I come from a non-musical background, and it was my mother’s wish that I learnt music. I want to take Indian music to a wider audience across the world,” says the youngster. To pursue her dreams, Shobika has now moved to Chennai from Coimbatore and has set up a home studio from where she will be churning out music.
