Simbu shoots for Periyar Kuthu

Simbu has paid his tribute to social activist and reformer Thanthai Periyar (EV Ramasamy) through a new song titled Periyar Kuthu. The shoot for the song was canned yesterday.The lyrics for the song are by Madhan Karky and the music has been scored by Ramesh Thamilmani. STR has not only sung the number but has also danced for it. The song is produced by Deepan Boopathy.The release date of the album is expected to be announced soon. In the meantime, the actor has in his kitty Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. The film has an ensemble star cast that includes Jyothika, Arvind Swamy, Vijay Sethupathi, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh and Dayana Erappa. Santhosh Sivan is doing the cinematography while Sreekar Prasad is handling the editing. Music is by AR Rahman.
