While it was Pa Ranjith's

Attakathi

that became the debut of music director Santhosh Narayanan, it wasn't the first film that the composer had signed. That was

Uyir Mozhi

, a sci-fi romance made in 2012 that remains unreleased till date. However, the songs of the film were released at that time.

Now, eight years later, Santhosh Narayanan has shared a nostalgic memory from that film. The acclaimed composer tweeted a picture of the

lyrics

of the song

Vaanathil

, handwritten by the late lyricist

Na Muthukumar

.

Interestingly, Santhosh also revealed that this was the first-ever song that he did in Tamil films, and added that he missed Muthukumar, one of Tamil cinema's much-loved lyricists, who unfortunately passed away on August 14, 2016, after a sudden cardiac arrest. Muthukumar was also a two-time National Award-winning lyricist, winning the prestigious award back-to-back for his songs in Thanka Meenkal (2013) and Saivam (2014).

"This was my first song in Tamil cinema. Retrieved this after 8 years. Thanks Britto for this gift. Missing the legend Na.Muthukumar sir," posted the composer.

Even though the songs of Uyir Mozhi did not get their due, Santhosh Narayanan quickly became popular thanks to the success of the slice-of-life romance Attakathi in the very same year. The composer also went on to work on films starring Superstar Rajinikanth (Kabali and Kaala) and Thalapathy Vijay (Bairavaa). His recent single, Rakita Rakita Rakita, from Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, has been a chartbuster ever since its release during the lockdown.
