TR Kuralarasan steps into Kollywood with Idhu Namma Aalu. With six songs, he has come up with an album that���s a mix of romantic and kuthu numbers. Kaathaga, the first track, is the show-stopper. A breezy number, this one has folk influences and catchy lyrics by Simbu. Though the tune is simple, Kural has enhanced it in the interludes with nadaswaram and guitar bits, and a racy folk portion in the middle section. Next up is King Kong, a funky song with trance beats. What feels odd are Madhan Karky���s lyrics, which bring in the entire animal kingdom for a romantic song. The track is rendered by Kuralarasan (who sounds a lot like Simbu) and Shruti Haasan. Just when you think the song has a standard beat, we have Blaaze delivering a striking rap portion.

Kanne Un Kadhal is a signature Yuvan song, and Kural has made this one intriguing by mixing a slow violin tune with EDM beats. Yugabharathi���s lyrics are interesting and end with a dialogue portion by Yuvan. Remember Yammaadi Aathaadi? Maaman Waiting is its 2016 version. A high-voltage kuthu number, rendered by T Rajhendherr and Suchithra, this one also has Blaaze singing a major portion. It is a TR special, with rhyming words and all.

Finally, there is Oru Thalai Ragam, a soulful yet tragic track sung by Sriram Parthasarathy describing the lead���s broken heart. This one could find a place in the charts. There is also a Silambarasan version of the song that sounds a lot like an unplugged version. Idhu Namma Aalu is average album that might just grow on you.
