Enai Noki Paayum Thota

Composer: Darbuka Siva

Music Review: Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Dhanush starrer, Enai Noki Paayum Thota might have had a slow start in terms of its delayed release. But its soundtrack is nothing but a breath of freshness. The Darbuka Siva musical shines with sharp earworms, which are further elevated by Thamarai’s poignant lyrics.

The soundtrack begins with the peppy Naan Pizhaippeno rendered beautifully by Sathyaprakash D, who injects energy to every stanza. Next in the list of pleasant earworms is Visiri, which became an instant hit when it was released a couple of months ago. Sid Sriram and Shashaa Tirupati paint images of an emerging romance with their vocals. The song is complemented by lovely violin interludes.

Thirudaadhe Thirudaadhe is a fast-paced number performed by Jonita Gandhi, Karthik, Aaryan Dinesh Kanagaratnam and Darbuka Siva. The spunky song is coupled with powerful instrumentals breathers. Adadaa Naana is a lovely slow song by Nakul Abhyankar and Darbuka Siva, which is dominated by brilliant saxophone.

The album has two songs by Bombay Jayashri — Hey Nijame and Poi Varavaa — both rendered with warmth. The soundtrack’s highlight, however, is undoubtedly Sid Sriram’s indelible Maruvaarthai. The song, which has almost become synonymous with the film itself in the past few months, hits all the right notes. The song, which makes use of Sid’s impeccable Carnatic vocal range, is arguably the singer’s best.
