MJ Shriram’s SPB and Ilaiyaraaja nights goes to Pondicherry and Madurai

’s Mind Body Soul, a retro music concert comprising SPB-Ilaiyaraaja hits, which is performed at a star hotel in Chennai and Coimbatore, every month, recently made its debut in Pondicherry and Madurai as well. “I performed in Pondicherry in October and the response was phenomenal. When I was singing, three young women surprised us by walking in with a cake in their hands. We had a cake cutting ceremony right there,” he smiles.

The icing on the cake was a gift from an ardent fan of late singer SP Balasubrahmanyam. Shriram says, “It was a picture of SPB sir. The fan said that the picture was meant to be given to SPB sir himself, but due to his demise last year, he decided to give it to me. I was overwhelmed.” Shriram, who recently made his debut in Madurai as well, says that the city is packed with fans of both singer

and composer Ilaiyaraaja. “As days go by, the crowd is expected to swell.” Shriram will perform in Pondicherry on the third Wednesday of every month and on the third Friday in Madurai.
