Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja's instrumental album How To Name It? is one of the most loved non-film albums made by a film composer in India. The album, which was released in 1986, marked the maestro's entry in the fusion music space as far as non-film albums are concerned.
Now, Ilaiyaraaja has announced that he will be coming out with a sequel to this album, titled How To Name It 02.
In a video message that he shared on his social media handle, the composer stated, "Films have part 1, part and part 3, right? We have Superman 1, Superman 2, Superman 3... Batman 1, Batman 2, Batman 3, Batman 4 and so on. So, I thought why not have such sequels in music? And now, How To Name It 02 will be releasing soon."
Following the maestro's announcement, fans expressed their delight in the comments section under his post.
Ilaiyaraaja had composed and produced How To Name It? as a 10-track album, and dedicated it to Saint Thyagaraja, one of the Carnatic Trinity, and Western classical music legend Johann Sebastian Bach. He had also used some bits from these compositions in the background score of the late
Balu Mahendra's arthouse drama Veedu following a request from the director.
