The music maestro Ilaiyaraaja has opened up about his thoughts on welcoming fresh talents. In a recent conversation with a daily, the musician shared that he always encourages new talents.

In the interview, he spoke about the time when Mani Ratnam was starting out as a director and decided to work with him as he wanted to support and encourage new people in the industry. The music director stated that if a song is in the minds of the people for just a week, it cannot be called viral. He reportedly added that there are so many new singers today but they do not stand the test of time. He noted that the era of KJ Yesudas and SP Balasubramanian has faded.

Music composer Ilaiyaraaja held a live concert yesterday, March 18 in Chennai. It was the first concert after the pandemic. Along with Ilaiyaraja and the singers included Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Gangai Amaran, Devi Sri Prasad, Mano, SP Charan, Usha Uthup, Shweta Mohan, and Karthik.

Ilaiyaraaja is currently working on the film ‘Ninaivellam Neeyada’. It is the 1417th film that he is composing music for. The music maestro also recently visited AR Rahman’s studio in Dubai and even agreed to compose something for the studio orchestra. Also, Ilaiyaraaja’s musical titled ‘Music School’, has completed its third schedule of shooting.
