Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman extend helping hands to musicians
The coronavirus pandemic has caused world-wide destruction. While several hundreds have lost their lives, scores of people’s have been made jobless and lack of work has made their lives miserable. Cinema is one among the industries affected by COVID-19, and with lockdown shootings and recordings and release of films have been stalled affecting the lives of several hundred artistes, technicians and musicians.

In Kollywood, too, hundreds of musicians have lost their work and have been suffering in poverty. In these circumstances, musicians Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman have contributed towards their welfare.
Film Musicians Association president Dhina said that after coming to know of the plight of the musicians, Ilaiyaraaja and Rahman have donated Rs 10 lakh each to help them. Besides, D Imman, Anirudh and Hip Hop Thamizha Adhi have given 3 lakhs each, Thaman has given 1 lakh and Vijay Antony and Ghibran have contributed 50,000 each to help the struggling musicians. Now, each musician will get Rs 2,000 from this money collected, to meet their essential requirements.

On the film front, AR Rahman recently joined as co-producer and musician AR Rahman joins Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Megan Mitchell's No Land's Man. Ilaiyaraaja, on the other hand recently announced that he would start an app to interact with his fans.
