This weekend, celebrating India’s rich musical and dance heritage, Jyotirgamaya: Diya Dhvani , a four-day cultural festival, will take place amidst candlelight and diyas. The event, which will take place from September 14 to 17 at the Museum Theatre, will bring together a unique mix of Carnatic music, contemporary classical collaborations, and Bharatanatyam performances.
“The highlights include vocal concerts by duo Ranjani–Gayatri, the melodic partnership of vocalist Sikkil Gurucharan and pianist Anil Srinivasan, and the soulful Ramakrishnan Murthy. The festival will also showcase ‘ Parishvanga Pattabhishekam ’, a Bharatanatyam performance by the students of Anitha Guha’s Bharathanjali and features special junior concerts,” shares the event’s organiser Prakash RSV.
“This is the first time a Carnatic classical concert is being held at the Museum Theatre. It’s also the first time in the world that an Indian classical concert will take place amidst candlelight and diyas, creating a magical ambience,” he shares. “The idea is to elevate the presentation of our classical art in a more appealing way,” he adds.
