Lyricist Na Muthukumar has added yet another feather to his cap. The lyricist, who won a National Award for his song Aanandha Yazhai from Thangameengal last year, has been conferred a doctorate by the International Tamil University in the United States for his contribution to Tamil literature and films. The lyricist was honoured at an event that took place in the city recently.
He was also conferred the doctorate at the event. Muthukumar, who holds the credit for having penned the maximum number of Tamil film songs last year, already holds a doctorate degree from the Madras University. This was awarded to him in 2006 for his research on Tamil songs.
Talking to Chennai Times, he said, ���They conferred this doctorate taking into consideration my contribution to the language and this includes Anilaadum Moondril, a collection of essays that were published in a Tamil weekly.���
