Ameeth Thomas helps indie artistes

Promoting indie music and lending a helping hand to the artistes has always been

Ameeth Thomas

’s motto. This singer, songwriter, guitarist and frontman of Junkyard Groove recently put out a post on social media for independent artistes. The post said that if they are a singer-songwriter from Chennai and have an original song, but have never recorded it professionally, they could record their originals on their phones with any basic instrument that they play and send it to him. He promises to record them at free of cost if he really likes the song.
Two city-based bands —

Wayside-The Band

and

Gaman Mamidi

— recorded with him. Says Ameeth, “When we started our band, we struggled to get our originals recorded in a professional studio set-up. I know how much it cost then and how much it costs now. Having experienced tough times, I wanted to help good artistes who deserve to be heard as I feel money shouldn’t be the factor stopping them.” He adds, “Every time I ask bands to send demos, it would be recorded unprofessionally. The reason I ask them for demos is to check them out and see if we can collaborate or if I can arrange for some platform for them to perform in. Hence, this decision. Like always, my doors are always open for independent artistes.”
