Synopsis
Chennai 600028 portrays lives of boys who love playing cricket even on the roadside. The local corporation ground becomes their pitch, their stage and their life together. For a period of one year, these youngsters get to taste life in all its flavours. Romance blossoms, competition stiffens, struggles get harder, treachery fools and disappointments hurt. According to those associated with this film, the story accounts for real life incidents of the Mandaveli - Raja Annamalaipuram area. The film was named Chennai 600028 as it was the pin code of this area. It was suggested to Venkit Prabhu by one of his childhood acquaintance, who was also a resident of this area. The central theme of a cricket loving group of youngsters itself, accounted for the release of this film being timed with the Cricket World Cup 2007.
In this film Venkit Prabhu has introduced 28 fresh faces. Dev plays the hero and Mumbai based model Kristina Zedek makes her debut as heroine. Vijayalakshmi, daughter of popular director Agarhiyan, also makes her debut in an important role. Shiva, Nithin Sathya, Aravind Akash, Jai, Premji, Ajairaj, Vishal, Prasanna, Karthik, Ranjith, Ilavarasu and Sampath play other important characters. Venkat Prabhu would brand this film as a wholesome entertainer with no messages and one which stands out of the normal love stories.
At the audio release function, Yuvan Shankar Raja who gave music for this film was beaming as he proudly announced this film to have received the best appreciation in his career. Music has a profound effect with a total of nine songs. Vali has even written a song especially for the World cup Tournament in this, which was sung by Yuvan Sankar Raja and two rap singers from Singapore.
The grand total gave a total entertainer especially for young minds.
