Hansika Motwani for Aranmanai
Bubbly girl, Haniska Motwani, showed us a new facet of her otherwise bubbly character. Hansika’s portrayal of Selvi, a spirit residing in the body of Andrea Jeremiah, totally blew us away. Directed by Sundar C., the movie received a tremendous response from the audience. After seeing Hansika charm her leading men on-screen, it was refreshing to see her as the enraged spirit who possesses a lady and troubles her.

Amala Paul for Velai Illa Pattadhaari
Amala Paul has been previously acclaimed for her performances in various Tamil films. She portrays a girl-next-door, Shalini, in Velai Illa Pattadhaari. While Shalini initially hates her neighbour, Raghuvaran, she eventually falls for him when she learns more about him. The movie has been directed by Velraj and received positive reviews. The audience went gaga over the stars of the movie.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu for Kaththi
Samantha matched Vijay’s performance in the 2014 blockbuster, Kaththi. She plays the role of Ankitha in the film. Her character tries to dupe Kathiresan into marrying her. She later helps him in his struggle for the farmers whose land has been taken away by MNC owners, resulting in several farmer suicides. The movie was the highest grossing Tamil film for the year 2014, according to Ibtimes.co.in.

Lakshmi Menon for Jigarthanda
Jigarthanda received a positive response by the audience and even at the box-office. The star cast of the film was lauded for the top-notch level of performances. Lakshmi Menon plays the pretty Kavalvizhi, daughter of Sethu’s cook. Kavalvizhi likes Karthik aka Siddharth in the film and to find out more about Sethu, Siddharth also pretends to reciprocate to her feelings. The movie received National Awards too.

Vedhika for Kaaviya Thalaivan
Vedhika, who was lauded for her performance of Angamma in Pardesi, performed splendidly in Kaaviya Thalaivan as well. The historical fiction movie that also starred Siddharth and Prithviraj, was a sensation and received stupendous reviews. The story revolves around Siddharth and Prithviraj who are stage actors in a drama troupe. Vedhika portrays Siddharth’s love interest in the film.
