Kollywood weddings of 2017

It was an eventful year for some of our Kollywood celebrities as they entered the bond matrimony. While some of the events were a grand affair, some of them were a closely guarded ceremony. Here's a look at some of the high-profile weddings this year

Hiphop Tamizha Adhi weds Latchaya

News of music composer and singer Adhi tying the knot with Chennai girl Latchaya came as a surprise for many, so much so that even his friends and colleagues were kept in the dark. The Kovai Gethu anthem composer tied the knot in a simple ceremony at his house in Chennai in the presence of his family members. The composer later revealed that since his wife was not used to the attention, she had freaked out after the news was all over the internet. Hence, the wedding was kept a secret. Fans had a field day on social media playing a guessing game wondering if the composer was engaged or married.

Akshita weds Manu

Chiyaan Vikram's daughter Akshita married Manu Ranjith, son of CK Ranganathan, chairman of the Cavin Kare group in a low-profile ceremony in October. Manu is the great grandson of DMK President M Karunanidhi. The wedding took place at the DMK patriarch Karunanidhi's Gopalapuram residence in Chennai and the event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, former Union Minister and Kalaignar's elder son Alagiri, his son Dhaya Alagiri and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran and lyricist Vairamuthu. A grand reception was held later for which the who's who of the Tamil film industry was present.

Namitha weds Veerandra

Soon after she got out of the Bigg Boss Tamil house, Namitha got married to producer Veerandra Chowdhary at the ISKCON temple in Tirupati. Namitha's wedding was announced by her Bigg Boss friend and model Raiza on her micro-blogging page. Raiza had put up a video on twitter, where Namitha was seen announcing her wedding date with her beau. The wedding was attended by actors Sarathkumar, Radhika Sarathkumar and her Bigg Boss mates Shakthi, Gayathri Raghuram and Harathi.

Samantha weds Naga Chaitanya

This is what you call a fairytale wedding! As soon the duo got engaged, ChaiSam wedding revelry kick- started in October with a grand baraat by the groomsmen for Naga Chaitanya. A larger than life cut out of Chai from his movie, greeted him as soon as he walked in. A swanky yellow luxury car rolled in for the groom to ride into the venue. And, leading the baraat from the front were Akhil and cousin Rana, along with the rest of the Akkinenis and Daggubatis, friends and family, who were whistling, cheering and dancing. The second day began on a lazy note, with a late brunch followed by a Christian wedding ceremony in the evening and a cocktail party at night.

Aadhav Kannadasan weds Vinodhinie

The grandson of legendary lyricist Kavignar Kannadasan, Aadhav Kannadasan's love story is as filmi as it gets. Aadhav, who tied the knot with business developer Vinodhnie Suresh on December 6, met her during the 2015 Chennai floods and got the consent of their parents the following December. And this December, he married Vinodhinie in a grand ceremony on December 6^th in Chennai. A sangeet was held at one of the star hotels in the city on December 3. Some of the bigwigs in the industry and Tamil Nadu politics including Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan and Shanthanu attended the function. Shruti Haasan was seen along with her alleged boyfriend Michael Corsale, which sparked the rumours that there might be wedding bells in the Haasan household, too.
