The moment news broke about
Mani Ratnam planning his next film, excitement shot up, and it doubled with the strong buzz around
Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi coming on board. Even without an official announcement, the combination of two powerhouse performers with the master filmmaker has turned the project into one of the most anticipated in Indian cinema. Industry reports suggest that the shooting of the film is likely to begin this summer, setting the stage for a major cinematic event.
Vijay Sethupathi confirms reunion with Mani Ratnam
Ending days of speculation, Vijay Sethupathi confirmed his collaboration with Mani Ratnam in an interview with Variety India. The actor, who earlier worked with the director in 'Chekka Chivantha Vaanam,' revealed that this new project would be completely different in tone and treatment. During the same interview, he mentioned that he continually strives to make sure that he is not repeating, remaking, or adding sequels to his films and that his inner novice, the working actor who once came into the industry and hoped for at least a supporting role, still dictates his decisions. For him, the thrill of standing before the camera and performing remains the biggest motivation, irrespective of scale or banner.
Vijay Sethupathi's packed line-up
The actor’s calendar continues to be one of the busiest, with multiple projects at various stages of production. He has firmly confirmed his presence in Vetrimaaran’s 'Arasan,' putting an end to rumors about walking out due to date issues. Headlined by Silambarasan and set in the 'Vada Chennai' universe, the film is expected to be a gritty gangster drama with music by Anirudh Ravichander. At the same time, he is teaming up with Thiagarajan Kumararaja for 'Pocket Novel,' alongside Malavika Mohanan and Raj B Shetty, supported by a stellar technical crew including Nirav Shah and Ilaiyaraaja.
Sai Pallavi’s strong slate
Sai Pallavi too is entering a crucial phase in her career with an impressive mix of projects across industries. She will next be seen in 'Ek Din' and has joined Dhanush’s 'D55.' Most notably, she is set to play Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part Ramayana alongside Ranbir Kapoor. With both actors known for choosing performance-oriented roles, their coming together for Mani Ratnam’s next has already created enormous curiosity, even as details about the film’s genre, story, and supporting cast remain tightly guarded.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the
