Nadigar Sangam

Radha Ravi, who was the then general secretary of the Sangam, faced corruption charges, and that resulted in the formation of a new team —
Pandavar Ani
, lead by
Nasser and Vishal. This team managed to win against the Sarath Kumar-Radha Ravi combo and has been heading the Sangam till date, with Nasser as president and
Vishal as general secretary.
Now, fresh elections have been declared for the Nadigar Sangam, and they will take place on June 23. The Pandavar Ani is contesting once again with Nasser for president and Vishal for general secretary. Meanwhile, a group of disgruntled actors who had previously been part of Pandavar Ani have broken away and formed the
Swami Sankaradas Ani
, with
Bhagyaraj
as their president candidate and producer-actor
Ishari Ganesh
taking on Vishal for the post of the general secretary.
So, who is Sarath Kumar, the former president, supporting in this election? Speaking to the media in Madurai, the actor has revealed his stand. He said, "I am now not a member of the Nadigar Sangam. So, I do not want to comment on who I'm supporting." He added, "An election will always have different teams, but this time, people who were part of the same team has split up into two opposing teams. This itself gives us an idea of the functioning of the current office bearers. This was not the case when we were at the helm."
He stated that everyone wants the Sangam to function properly and see the Nadigar Sangam building constructed on time. "The Sangam was formed to enhance the unity of artistes. I'd say that it would be better if everyone stands united," he said.
