Saranya Nags solo debut film, Mazhai Kaalam, has garnered enough attention from the media and the public, thanks to the reports that she has gone nude for the climax scene in the film. Ask the actress is she indeed went nude, for the film and she says with a smile, I play a nude model in the film, which deals with the lives of art college students.
When I was narrated the script, I was scared because after Kadhal and Peraanmai, this was to be my solo debut in Kollywood and I didnt want it to become controversial. I asked for a days time to think over it. And finally, I was convinced that this was a good opportunity to prove my acting talent.
She continues, But I was apprehensive about the nude scenes I was supposed to do during the climax scene. But my director told me that Id be wearing body-suits, and he even bought a couple of them according to my skin tone. We shot the scene in an arts college, with real students.
Saranya adds, We wanted everyone to know that we were shooting a film thats a realistic take on the life of artists. The film has come out well, and theres nothing vulgar about the nude scenes. In fact, the censor has given us a U certificate!
So, does she think this film will be her big ticket to stardom? I dont know if I will be catapulted to stardom after this film releases, but all I can say is Mazhai Kaalam will be my visiting card. Until now, I was referred to as Kadhal Saranya and Peraanmai Saranya. But after this film, people will just refer me as Saranya, she says.
Meanwhile, the actress has already signed a couple of films in Kollywood. Im playing the lead in cameraman-turned-director Guhans Muyal. The film is about a bunch of college students and I play this young, bubbly girl. I also finished shooting for a short film, Bodhai, which has been directed by music composer Selvaganesh (of Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu fame). Im looking at a few scripts here, and hopefully, I should sign a few! she signs off.
