The project
Swathi Kolai Vazhakku
, based on the murder of IT girl in
Nungambakkam
, has already made the headlines.
Vishal, who is also the president of
Tamil Film Producers Council
(
TFPC
), has promised that he would help the makers of the film by ensuring good number of screens, while speaking at its audio launch. He also requested them to be careful while dealing with unprofessional distributors and asked the makers to contact him a month before the theatrical release.
The actor said, “It is likely that distributors will come forward to you and offer around 175 screens and 9 am shows at various places. But the fact is, even the owners wouldn’t turn up at that time in those screens. The distributors may try to discourage small filmmakers by saying that their projects do not have a market and hence ask them to settle for commission basis.”
Vishal noted that situation may be such that even the producers wouldn’t know the theatres where their films are being screened. He added, “They will promise that the films would pick up by the second week though the fact remains that producer share will witness a decline by then.” He also spoke on the need for producers to understand the revenue which could be obtained from YouTube, and how he got to know about his enemies when TFPC proposed a shutdown sometime ago.
