The debutant director tells us, “Vikram Prabhu plays a gangster in it. But he won’t be undergoing any look changes or building muscles. We can’t decide if a person is a gangster based on his look — there are gangsters who are lean, short or even have physical disabilities. Vikram Prabhu will come across as a boy next door in the film. I approached him for the role because I felt he was apt for the character.”

Interestingly, Harendhar is also incorporating as few action scenes as possible in the film. “Usually, gangster movies are high on action. But this one will be more on the lines of a drama,” says the director, who approached Vikram Prabhu with the script about nine months ago.

He elaborates, “I quit my job as a bank manager in 2016 because of my love for cinema and my passion to make it as a director. But you don’t easily land a chance if you have no prior experience in the industry. So, I started writing stories and scripts. That’s how I met director Karthik Adwith in Hyderabad; we were working together on a story for a friend of ours. We hit it off instantly, and a few years later, approached Vikram Prabhu together for Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku, which Karthik was directing. I joined him as a co-director. While working on that film, I also completed the script of Rathamum Sadhaiyum, and asked Vikram annan if I could narrate it to him. He liked what he heard and said we could start work on it after he completes his other commitments. Karthik also came on board the project as a producer. Vikram Prabhu was doing about five films at that time and he also had to finish a few sequences for Paayum Oli Nee Yenakku. So, we will finally start rolling with our film in July. I’ve completed the pre-production, and the casting is on now.”

The film will be shot in Trichy, Tanjore and Chennai.
