Actor Vijaykant and his wife Premalatha were discharged recently hospital after recovering from testing positive for COVID-19. Earlier last evening, there were reports that the actor turned politician has been admitted in hospital again due to ill health. But it has been clarified that Vijayakant has been to the hospital for the second phase examination and will be back home in a couple of days.
In an official statement, it reads, "DMDK leader Captain Vijayakant has been admitted in a private hospital for a second phase on examination. He is hale and healthy. Please do not trust any sorts of rumours that are being circulated on his health."
Vijayakanth's son Vijay Prabhakaran has also clarified through a Live video on his social networking page saying, "Please don't spread rumors. This is just a normal checkup. Please give us some privacy - I didn't understand why everyone kept calling what happened to dad. Captain is well - It is a normal general health checkup. He will be back tomorrow!"
Vijayakant was admitted to the hospital on September 22 and the DMDK had issued a statement that the leader had only mild symptoms. It also has to be remembered that Vijayakant was one of the first celebrities in the country to come forward and offer help to the government to battle the coronavirus when the pandemic struck, in March 2020. He had first requested the Government to make use of his Andal Alagar Engineering College and his party office in Koyambedu as hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.
