Vijay Sethupathi urges CM Vijay to support cinema: 'It would be good if the government starts an OTT platform soon'
Actor Vijay Sethupathi recently grabbed attention after making an important request to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay during the audio launch event of the film 'Parimala & Co.' The event was attended by several film personalities, including Vimal and Seeman. Directed by Pandiraj, the film stars Jayaram, Urvashi, Mysskin, and Yogi Babu in key roles. During his speech, Vijay Sethupathi openly spoke about the struggles faced by the film industry after the sudden rise and fall of the OTT market.

Speaking directly about the issue, Vijay Sethupathi said, “Honourable Chief Minister Vijay sir, I have a request. As Kamal sir had earlier suggested, it would be good if the government starts an OTT platform soon.” As reported by Puthiya Thalaimurai, he explained that "Many producers and filmmakers are currently confused about where to take their films after the OTT business slowed down unexpectedly. Suddenly, OTT became a huge market. It took cinema to great heights and then slowly stepped away. Now, many people in the industry are struggling,” he added. The actor requested the government to regulate the OTT business properly so that filmmakers can find stability again.The actor also demands an increase in theatre ticket prices
Apart from OTT concerns, Vijay Sethupathi also spoke about theatre ticket prices remaining unchanged for several years. “Everything has become costly now. Film production expenses have increased a lot. But ticket prices are still the same,” he said during the event. Vijay Sethupathi added that this issue had been bothering him for a long time and he finally decided to speak openly about it on stage. According to him, increasing ticket prices slightly could help producers and distributors manage the rising costs in the industry.
