Bharathiraja, Cheran and many others have requested the actor to drop the film as it could hurt the sentiments of Tamilians all over the world. The makers released a statement claiming the film is about the life of a cricketer and it does not make any political statement. Muralidaran also clarified that a lot of his statements in the past have been twisted to show him as someone who supported the genocide. Seenu Ramasamy has posted a tweet that he is waiting to see Vijay Sethupathi’s decision.

Seenu Ramasamy who is the mentor of Vijay shared a tweet asking Vijay Sethuparthi to take a decision after taking people’s opinion into consideration. He posted, ‘எந்த ஒரு நிர்பந்தமும் ஆரசியல் வினாக்களை பற்றி கவலை இன்றி ஜனநாயகப் பூர்வமாக சிந்தித்து மக்கள் தீர்ப்பே மகேஷன் தீர்ப்பு என உணர்ந்து @VijaySethuOffl எடுக்கும் முடிவுக்கு நானும் காத்திருக்கிறேன் (sic)’



The tweet roughly translates to ‘I am waiting to see what Vijay Sethupathi will decide filtering the political opinions and not being subject to any force, but by purely taking people’s opinion into consideration.’
