Shankar, who seems to have been hugely impressed by the relationship drama.
Taking to his Twitter page, the director shared that Maamanithan gave him the satisfaction of having watched a good film. Stating that Seenu Ramasamy has delivered a "realistic classic", he was all praise for
Vijay Sethupathi's performance in the film, expressing that the actor deserves a National Award for his brilliant performance.
He also praised the music of the film, which is jointly composed by the father-son duo of
Ilaiyaraaja and
Yuvan Shankar Raja.

An overjoyed Seenu Ramasamy thanked the director for his appreciation and tweeted that while Shankar is known for the magnificence in his films, he also has an equally magnificent heart. He wrote, "Director Shankar is a 'Brammanda Iyakkunar', but I realise that his heart too is magnificent. I have no words to say to his words of praise," he wrote.
