Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi to lead Mani Ratnam’s romantic drama with AR Rahman confirmed as composer - Reports

Rahman as the composer for Ratnam’s upcoming romantic entertainer put an end to rumors that the director was moving toward young talent Sai Abhyankkar. The film, which stars powerhouse performers Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi in the leads, marks the 19th collaboration between the iconic director and the Oscar-winning maestro.Clearing the air, sources have now confirmed with IANS that A. R. Rahman will compose the music for the film. Thus, Mani Ratnam has retained AR Rahman as the composer of his new film, and the long-standing partnership continues. AR Rahman and Mani Ratnam first collaborated for the film 'Roja' in 1992, and since then, they have delivered innumerable hits for over three decades. It is reported that the film, which does not yet have a title, is a romantic entertainer, and certain reports sugested that AR Rahman might have already completed a song for it. All this indicates that the movie will kick off soon in pre-production mode. The film will star Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. Although there is no official confirmation yet, reports suggest shooting will begin this year, likely around July. Produced under Mani Ratnam’s production house, the film is likely to feature Sai Pallavi as the female lead.
