While Vijay Antony is mostly known for starring in thrillers, his new film, which went on floors on Wednesday in Malaysia, will see him in a loverboy role. Titled Romeo, the film, directed by debutant Vinayak Vaithianathan, who was part of web shows like Kadhal Distancing and I Hate You I Love You, will see the actor-composer pairing up with Cobra girl Mirnalini Ravi for the first time.
A source tells us, “This film will be an out-and-out romance, between a businessman, played by Vijay Antony, and a movie heroine, played by Mirnalini. Vijay Antony, who is also producing it, is planning this as a pan-Indian project. While the Telugu version is titled Love Guru, the team will be announcing the titles of the Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi versions in some time.”
VTV Ganesh, Thalaivasal Vijay, Ilavarasu, Sudha, and Sreeja Ravi are also part of the cast of the film, which will be shot in Malaysia, Bangkok, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mahabalipuram and Tenkasi.
Barath Dhanasekar, a debutant, will be the music director. Vijay Antony himself will be editing this film, which has Farook J Basha, who shot Pathu Thala, as the cinematographer.
