It was in 2003 that I met him for the first time, during the shoot of Thirumalai, in Chennai. He had sported a different look in the movie. I met him at his home and he asked my opinion on his all-new trimmed look.I told him that I liked it, and later, took my first photo with him, too.

There are many who have tattoos of their favourite stars on their body. For a change, I have tattooed Vijay anna and his wife’s photo on my right arm. I showed him the tattoo once, and he responded with, ‘Paasam manasukulle irundhal podhum’. I said I consider him as one of my family members and that it was my way of expressing affection for him. Among the many memories I have with him, what comes instantly to my mind is the experience I had during the shoot of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, on OMR. I used to drive an auto back then and had four passengers with me. He was travelling in director Bharathan’s car, and he stopped next to mine, and asked if he could come along. I said ‘yes’ and he travelled in my auto with the other passengers for nearly eight kilometres. Many on the road were puzzled looking at him and it took them some time to realise that it was Vijay anna travelling in my auto.
