Popular Tamil scriptwriter and director 'Vietnam Veedu' Sundaram (76) passed away today in the wee hours, after a brief illness. He has has worked for more than 350 films in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. 'Vietnam Veedu' became part of his name after he wrote the script, first for theatre and then for the film, starring Sivaji Ganesan. He is survived by his wife Chella (74) and two daughters.
He went on to write script for a number of films and the list includes MGR starrer 'Nalai Namadhey', 'Gnana Oli', 'Naan En Pirandhen', 'Annan Oru Kovil' and many others. He has also directed many televisions serials and emerged as an actor in serials as well.
