Vetri Maaran reveals why 'Viduthalai Part 2' got delayed

Vetri Maaran is one of the most successful directors in Tamil cinema, and he follows a unique style of filmmaking. In his 16 years in cinema, Vetri Maaran has delivered only 6 films as a director, as he takes an extended time for his projects. Now, Vetri Maaran revealed the exact reason for the delay in the release of 'Viduthalai Part 2' in an interview with a YouTube channel. According to him, 'Viduthalai Part 1' was released last March, and the film turned out to be another success for the director. Despite being shot mostly for the sequel along with Part 1, the release of 'Viduthalai 2' has been delayed. Vetri Maaran has tried to film the climax portion of 'Viduthalai Part 2' in the mist, and the director tried it for 100 days and the director then realized that it would take 4 years if he shot in the same pattern. Therefore, the director then opted to bring in mist using computer graphics.

Only Vijay Sethupathi's flashback portion is yet to be shot to complete the filming of 'Viduthalai 2', however, the director has assured that he will finish it soon. It is worth mentioning that Vetri Maaran has been using de-aging technology to film the flashback portions involving Vijay Sethupathi and Manju Warrier. The brilliant director has associated with a Hollywood technician to use the de-aging method.

'Viduthalai' is based on the novel 'Thunaivan' written by Jeyamohan, and the film has Soori, Vijay Sethupathi, Bhavani Sre, and Manju Warrier in the lead roles. The film has music scored by Ilaiyaraaja, and the film's second part might be released in March 2024.
