Veteran actress Sripriya's mother Girija Pakkirisamy passes away; cremation to take place today evening

Popular actress Sripriya's mother and famous Bharatanatyam performer Girija Pakkirisamy passed away yesterday, Nov 22 due to health issues that she was suffering from the past few days. The veteran breathed her last yesterday evening at the age of 88.The mortal remains of Girija Pakkirisamy have been kept at her residence in Mylapore, Chennai for friends and family to pay their last respect. Girija Pakkirisamy was a mother of two daughters (the Late Meenakshi and Sripriya Rajkumar) and a son Srikanth. Kamal Haasan and a few other popular stars from Kollywood are expected to attend the funeral of Girija Pakkirisamy.Actress Sripriya made her debut with the 1974 Tamil film 'Murugan Kattiya Vazhi' and she acted in over 200 films in Tamil alone, and in 1980 she acted in many films alongside leading actors like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, and several others. Sripriya also acted in Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi films, and produced a couple of films in Tamil. Sripriya is currently involved in politics, and she is part of Kamal Haasan's political party. Karaikal Natesan Pakkirisamy Pilla is a famous Bharatanatyam artiste, and his wife Girija Pakkirisamy is also a Bharatanatyam artiste. Girija Pakkirisamy has also directed the Tamil film 'Kadhodu Naan Pe Pesuven and produced multiple films in Tamil, which also include the superhit film 'Neeya'. Girija Pakkirisamy's daughter Sripriya was one of the leading actresses during the 1980s.
