Velmurugan finds his true calling

At a time when some singers are opting for slow numbers and others for fast numbers, Velmurugan has established a distinct style of music.
His brand ��������������������������� the folk style ��������������������������� is quite a rarity in present-day Tamil cinema. However, with the emergence of rural cinema with a bang, the affable singer has found his true calling.
Today, after two songs ��������������������������� Madura Kulunga...in the superhit Subramaniapuram and Aadungada... in the recent Nadodigal ��������������������������� that rocked Kollywood, Velmurugan is on top of the world.
���������������������������It���������������������������s got to do with the right timing, I think,��������������������������� says the unassuming singer, ���������������������������I was fortunate that at the time I entered the music industry, filmmakers were thinking of subjects that offered scope for folk numbers.���������������������������
Singing rural folk numbers is what the singer has been dabbling in, ever since his childhood days in Vridhachalam. Recognition at local thiruvizhas prodded him on, and there���������������������������s been no looking back since then.
He considers being called by music composer James Vasanthan as one of the turning points in his life.

Recording for composer Sundar C Babu for Aadungada... was a story that he won���������������������������t easily forget.
���������������������������The song was sung by another singer and had already been recorded,��������������������������� recalls Velmurugan, ���������������������������But, they tried me too for the song and it clicked!���������������������������
Like most singers, Velmurugan���������������������������s dream is to work with the Mozart of Madras.
���������������������������I wish Rahman sir experiments more with folk songs,��������������������������� he states, ���������������������������Then, a lot of singers like me will get an opportunity to work with him.���������������������������
The singer is currently singing for projects like Aadukalam, Kutralam and Nandhi.
