With the memorial for former President of India, late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam all set to be inaugurated on July 27 at Rameshwaram, an anthem is now being readied to be launched on the same day. Filmmaker and an ardent follower of Kalam, Vasanth S Sai says that he is more than happy to do a video anthem on the latter.
Talking to CT about the same, he says, “One day, environmentalist K Abdul Ghani and I were discussing the memorial and this idea suddenly struck us.

Kalam sir was someone who always wanted to work with students and inspired the Indian youth to dream. One of the greatest leaders the country has ever seen, he had boundless affection for children and believed that the nation could be a powerful nation only through them. So, we decided to come up with an anthem which will leave a positive impact on the students, thus inspiring them to follow his path and remember him forever,” he says.
National Award-winning lyricist Vairamuthu is penning the lyrics for the song. Describing the lyrics, Vasanth says, “The lines would start with Kalam, Kalam…Salam, Salam and it would also have lyrics like Kaalam Kadanthum Kaalam Sollum Kalam…”
Music director Ghibran will be composing the tunes for the song. “He has already come up with around 25 tunes. We would be selecting an appropriate one and start the shoot soon.”
Vasanth, who will be directing the video, says that he is planning to include the places which are associated with the late President in the video, including ISRO. “We are yet to finalise the location — we have applied for permission to shoot in some prominent places, associated with Kalam ji,” he adds. The Tamil anthem will also be made in Hindi and Telugu, simultaneously.
