Two to tango

Tippu and Harini get talking to Coimbatore Times about their music journey
Two to tango
Tippu and Harini are two singers who are united in love and their passion for singing. The singer couple, who were in the city recently, share their zeal for music in a tte--tte with Coimbatore Times.
My Coimbatore connectionTippu: When my sister lived in Coimbatore, we used to frequent the city every few months. Though she is no more with us, the city has provided us with some cherished memories.

People here get along with others without any expectations and have set the bar high with their chivalry. They have a refined taste in music as well. Harini: I used to have a gala time with my sister-in-law in the city. Since all of were of the same age group, we used to freak out in the picturesque locales of Kovaipudur. The fresh and tasty water, friendly neighbourhood, balmy weather and courteous people upped the happiness quotient.
Films and music
Tippu: I last sang Kutti Puli Koottam for Ilayathalapathy Vijays Thuppakki. I have a few more songs in my kitty but I cannot reveal them, yet. Folklore is gaining prominence in the industry, which is an interesting trend.
Harini: After Moongil Thottam in Kadal, I have sung for composers Imman, Joshua Sridhar and Harris Jayarajs Ithu Kathirvelanin Kadhal and Endrendrum Punnagai.
My biggest criticTippu: Harini is six years senior to me when it comes to singing. So, I usually take tips and get my doubts cleared by her. She is the numero uno in finding mistakes in my songs. Nevertheless, it helps me improvise and better myself. Harini:
Tippu is my biggest critic. In fact, he is the one who points out more slipups when I sing. But he has a nice way of telling them.
Like parents, like childrenTippu: Our daughter and son have taken their baby steps into music. Both of them are learning vocals and its nice to see them showing interest in their parents profession. Hopefully, they will take up music more seriously in the future, though there is no compulsion. Harini: Since both of us are in the singing profession, its only natural that children have leanings towards music. But its absolutely their choice if they want to pursue music as a career. However, they shouldnt compromise on their studies at all as its education that helps build ones character.
Future plansTippu: At one point of time, I was contemplating on an album, but now there are too many albums and singles on the block. So, that idea has been put on the backburner. I am enjoying my singing sessions and I dont see any composing plans or albums in the near future. Harini: Films and kids are keeping me busy. I am also learning classical music from Lalitha Santhanam, one of Sathur sisters. In future, I may open a school for classical music.
