There’s no denying that our celebrities have always gives us inspiration – be it style, fitness or leading a sustainable lifestyle. This festive season, too, was no different as actresses decked up and put their best fashion foot forward. Among the trends that caught our attention was how bandhani had become a staple in most of their wardrobes now. A type of tie-dye textile, it’s done by plucking the cloth with fingernails to form a design. While it’s a popular form in Gujarat and Rajasthan, bandhani is also popular in our state – it’s a variant of sungudi. Here’s a look at our celebs who rocked bandhani recently…

One of Kollywood’s reigning queens, Trisha celebrated Deepavali by lighting lots of diya. She took to her social media to share a selfie, in which she can be seen dressed in a red bandhani salwar set. Her ensemble was a traditional bandhani – red with yellow patterns – bordered with mirrors. Kemp-style necklace and earrings and a red pottu completed her look. Man, did we say how ravishing she looked!

The Thalaivi actress’ social media is full of celebration pictures – her brother recently tied the knot and Kangana gave her fans a glimpse of the wedding celebrations by posting pictures. She shared a video, in which she can be seen twirling in her lehenga. Kangana had worn a lovely blue bandhani lehenga, which she paired with a pink ornamental choli and a heavily worked-on dupatta. She had accessorised with chokers and matching balis and nethichutti. Giving details about her ensemble, Kangana wrote, “Everyone who is asking about my lehnga, its a gujrati bandhani lehnga which took almost 14 months to be made, a dying art I am privileged enough to be able to support, designer Anuradha Vakil made this dream come true and my friend @sabyasachiofficial designed the jewellery for me (sic).”

Host and actress Archana Chandhoke has an impeccable sense of style and that’s quite visible in the way she turns up at her shows. The anchor has been turning up in her best attires inside the Bigg Boss house, which she entered a few weeks ago. On the Deepavali day episode with Kamal Haasan, Archana wore a pretty pink and orange kurta and pink skirt, the highlight of which was the bandhani dupatta. She left her neck bare and opted for chunky earrings.

Fashionista Ananya Panday can rock both ethnic and western styles. This Deepavali, she went totally traditional with a pink lehenga and choli. She chose a handcrafted bandhani lehenga, and opted for a heavily embellished top. The ensemble came with a pretty pink dupatta as well, which had minimal designs. She completed her look with only earrings.

Sridevi’s daughter and actress Janhvi Kapoor has pulled off a lot of traditional looks effortlessly. She recently shared an image of hers in a blue bandhani suit. A minimalist ensemble, the kurti had three-fourth sleeves and a simple, round neck. She kept the accessories simple as well – silver jhumkas. Interestingly, Janhvi had worn the ensemble last year as well for an event.
