The buzz and anticipation for the film is very high and following the trailer launch, it has been getting good response.
The movie has already made $500K in pre-sales and trade analysts state that the film will gross Rs 125 crore worldwide on day 1 of its release. Fans and movie audiences are excited to see Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth share screen after three decades and speaking to us, Trade analyst Sreedhar Pillai said, "The combination is great and the highlight of the film is Amitabh Bachchan's clash with Rajnikanth in the film. Although I don't want to talk numbers, it is going to take a bumper opening and it has a beautiful release date with a six day long weekend. There is no other release and 'Jigra' is too small a film and does not have a national market.''
Speaking about the south film releases in multiplexes, analyst Ramesh Bala said, " I can see day 1 of the film to be about Rs 125crore to 150crore across all languages and the weekend could go to about Rs 275crore. But there is a caveat here as the film is not a typical Rajnikanth film and we will know how it is accepted by his fans.''

"Eventually for a long run, a Hindi release is needed for 'Vettiyan' to make it bigger at the box office. But again it is the content that will decide the fate and we will know on day one of the release of the film," he concluded.

Vettaiyan Movie review and release LIVE UpdatesSome seniors in the trade feel the north- south combination has always worked for the trade and it is not new like it is being made out to be. Trade analyst Girish Wankhede too is optimistic and said that 'Vettiyan' weekend could be around Rs 250 crore. "This is one of the most highly anticipated films of recent years with such an astonishing ensemble star cast with two biggest superstars, Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth coming after 33 years of their superhit 'Hum’. It’s a great treat for cinegoers and their fans to witness the chemistry of these both stalwarts on the screen after such a huge gap," he added.
While Superstar Rajinikanth plays the encounter specialist, Amitabh Bachchan plays the human right vigilante and are technically pitted against each other which would be fabulous to watch. The other star cast comprising Rana Daggubati, Dushara Vijayan, Ritika Singh and Manju warrier look perfect in their characters in the trailer and Fahad Faasil could be a great surprise package. 'Vettaiyan, the Hunter’ looks fabulously appealing owing to its positioning, strong visibility quotient and fascinating music by Anirudh Ravichander.
