Title dispute arises over Dhanush and Nagarjuna's 'Kubera'

The much-anticipated film 'Kubera', featuring Dhanush, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Rashmika Mandanna, has generated significant buzz with its intriguing posters and early glimpses. However, the latest reports suggest that the film may have encountered a legal complication regarding its title.

According to a report by 123 Telugu, the makers of Kubera are facing opposition from Telugu film producer Karimakonda Narender, who claims prior ownership of the title. Karimakonda Narender asserts that he had officially registered the title 'Kubera' with the Telugu Film Producers Council back in November 2023 for his own project. He further stated that his film is already in production, with a significant portion of the shooting completed. Given this, he has raised concerns about director Sekhar Kammula using the same title for his star-studded venture.

Accusing Sekhar Kammula of title infringement, Narender has demanded that the filmmaker either rename his movie or compensate him for any losses incurred due to the title conflict. He has also sought intervention from the Telugu Film Chamber to resolve the matter fairly. Despite these allegations, neither Sekhar Kammula nor the team behind 'Kubera' has issued an official response. Meanwhile, Nagarjuna’s film has reportedly completed its shoot, with post-production currently underway.

In a separate development, Sekhar Kammula previously shared his excitement about working with Dhanush for the first time. In an interview with Cinema Vikatan, he admitted that he was initially hesitant to approach the 'Raayan' actor, fearing that Dhanush might not be familiar with his work. However, much to his surprise, Dhanush responded enthusiastically and even shared his admiration for Sekhar Kammula’s previous films.
