Actor-director Samuthrakani will be sharing screen space with
Ajith Kumar for the first time in Thunivu, but says that he never felt like he was working with the star for the first time.
“Ajith made me feel so comfortable, like a brother, and remains in touch, even after completing the film,”
Samuthirakani says, adding, “I have met him before, post the release of my first directorial venture, Unnai Charanadaindhen, in 2003.
Ajith got in touch with me through Venkat Prabhu and invited me to his place to appreciate my work. This man is still the same and looks like he’s never changed. He even saw my mother’s interview online and inquired about her well-being. She doesn’t know anything about cinema, and Ajith loved that innocence in her. He also asked for her blessing.”
In this film, which releases on January 11, Samuthirakani plays a cop, and he says that director H Vinoth completely transformed him into another person for the role. “Though Vinoth is not so expressive as a person, he’s someone who’s full of love. This guy is the best at his craft and does anything to deliver his vision. He trained me for my role and made sure that I was fit enough to pull it off with ease. He brought out another side of the actor in me, and I enjoyed working with him,” he says.
Samuthirakani also tells us that he leaves the writer-director in him at home before joining the sets of another film as an actor. “I will never take the writer in me along, as it might create problems.
I want to be a director’s actor and stay true to their vision,” he explains.
According to him, the film will be an adhiradi action thriller and a complete treat for Ajith fans. “The film has a lot of mass moments that will bring an adrenaline rush to his fans. I read the script within one-and-a-half hours as it was so interesting with a lot of details in it,” he informs.
