Mani Ratnam is currently working on his highly anticipated film 'Thug Life', which marks his reunion with
Kamal Haasan after more than three decades, following their iconic collaboration on Nayakan. According to a recent report by Indiaglitz Tamil, the digital rights of 'Thug Life' have been acquired by a leading digital platform for an astounding Rs 149.7 crore, setting a new record for Tamil cinema in terms of digital rights deals.
'Thug Life' is expected to be a period gangster drama, and Mani Ratnam is reportedly crafting a fresh and distinctive narrative for the film. The buzz surrounding the project is further amplified by the fact that its overseas theatrical rights have been sold for Rs 63 crore, signaling that the film is well on its way to achieving record-breaking pre-release numbers. With filming now in its final stages, this much-awaited film is expected to wrap production soon, further intensifying the anticipation among fans and the film industry alike.
Alongside Kamal Haasan, 'Thug Life' boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Silambarasan, Joju George, Nassar, Trisha,
Gautham Karthik, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Abhirami, among others. The legendary AR Rahman is in charge of the music, while acclaimed cinematographer Ravi K Chandran is overseeing the visual aspects of the film.
