Pondicherry-based Carl A Harte who has previously done movies like Aandavan Kattalai , Zero and Vedalam, will now be seen playing a negative character in a period film titled, Veeramundampatti. Directed by debutant Mariyappan, the movie is inspired from a real-life story.
Talking to us about the movie, Carl says, I am the villain in the movie, a horrible British officer who takes great delight in ruining and demoralising a quaint village.
The story is set in 1930s, where the British want to change the name of the village because it is too long. The locals dont agree and the two parties get into a fight. How the locals succeed, forms the major plot.
Newcomers, Veera and Shital K Upare play the leads in the movie. Carl and the crew have been shooting at a small village called Nadupatti in
Tamil Nadu. The villagers at Nadupatti would come watch us shoot and eventually become a part of the shoot. We have also had so many children come and shoot with us. It has been a lot of fun shooting for the movie. In fact, it took me a while too, to pronounce the title of the movie right, shares the actor who is from Australia.
