'Thalaivar 173': Superstar Rajinikanth drops major update, shoot to begin in April - Reports

Superstar Rajinikanth is back with another social media update, this time for the festive season of Pongal, which is also a big announcement of his upcoming film tentatively titled 'Thalaivar 173'. The fans’ perennial excitement about the much-rumored reunion of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan got new energy when the superstar confirmed the details of the film. On the occasion of Pongal, Rajinikanth called the film a proper commercial entertainer, instantly making everyone excited to see the Superstar back in his mass look.On Thursday morning, superstar Rajinikanth stepped out of his house in Chennai to greet the throngs of fans who had come to see him on the auspicious occasion. Clad in a white and golden attire, the superstar wished everyone and greeted them for the “Pongal” festival while stating that farmers are the backbone of our nation. In response to a query by the reporters, he also disclosed certain aspects pertaining to his upcoming film, 'Thalaivar 173', and told them that the film is set to be shot in April 2023. The announcement made by Rajinikanth is the first timeline issued in connection with the film. For Cibi Chakaravarthi, 'Thalaivar 173' is a career milestone since he gets to film with the biggest Indian superstar. The filmmaker made a shining directorial debut in the form of 2022’s 'Don' and spoke about his experiences as a Rajinikanth fan and now directing him. Anirudh Ravichander will score music for the film, which will be a reunion of another Superstar.There have been speculations on Kamal Haasan sharing screen space with Rajinikanth, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. These two legends have not been on screen together for decades, and the reuniting of these two on-screen could well be historic. At the same time, Rajnikanth has other movies at hand too, and he has 'Jailer 2' slated for theatrical release this June.
