Nagarjuna is on cloud nine with his latest flick Rajanna not only doing well at the box office, but also garnering much critical acclaim. The ecstatic actor was in Kasi recently, where he visited the famous Lord Shiva temple. I went to Kasi for the shoot of Damarukam, after which I visited the temple. I did an abhishekam there and had a great time as the place has a beautiful atmosphere, says Nagarjuna.
This is the actors first visit to Kasi. I always wanted to come here, but somehow it never happened, says Nagarjuna, who is saddened by the state of the river Ganga. I visited the Ghats and they are in very bad situation. The government should do something to clean the river, he says.
Damarukam is a socio-fantasy film about Lord Shiva. Apart from Kasi, the movie has been shot in the famous tourist spot, Badami too. The place stands testimony to our ancient heritage and the art work and sculptures in the temples beautifully reflect the Hindu culture, he says.
Ask the actor if he visits temples regularly and Nagarjuna reveals that him and wife Amala are more spiritual than religious. We dont do pujas everyday in the morning. But I believe in temples, because I can feel a sense of power and peace when I visit them. Humans are so egoistic and when we visit temples and do namaskarams, our egos are forced to bow down and we feel humbled, says Nagarjuna.
After his film,, Annamayya, the actor began to visit Tirupathi, twice a year. Nagarjuna has also recently visited Shirdi, as he is playing Shirdi Sai Baba in his upcoming film.
