Tamil releases this week: 'Gypsy', 'Pon Manickavel', 'Velvet Nagaram' and three other movies to hit screens

Over the last few weeks, there have been a lot of movies releasing in Tamil. Producers have been facing difficulties since there have been no holidays after the Pongal festival and almost twelve movies were released in the last two weeks. Now, 'Gypsy', 'Pon Manickavel', 'Velvet Nagaram', 'Ettu Thikkum Para', 'Indha Nilai Maarum' and 'College Kumar' are all set to rock this weekend as they will release on March 6. Here’s a closer look at these films that will entertain us this weekend.

'Gypsy' is a romantic film, which is directed by National Award-winning director Raju Murugan. The film features Jiiva and Natasha Singh in lead roles, while Lal Jose, Sunny Wayne and Susheela Raman will play crucial roles. Santhosh Narayan has scored the music for the film, and it is produced by Ambeth Kumar's Olympia movies. After a long delay, the film is finally set to release on March 6, and it has received an 'A' certificate from the censor board.

'Pon Manickavel' stars Prabhudeva and Nivetha Pethuraj in lead roles, while J Mahendran and Suresh Menon play important roles. The expectations from the film are quite high since Prabhudeva is donning the role of a cop for the first time in his career. The film is directed by AC Mugil Chellappan, who earlier worked as an assistant director to Prabhudeva. The music of the film is composed by D Imman, and is produced by V Hitesh Jhabak.

'Velvet Nagaram' is an action thriller directed by Manoj Kumar Natarajan, and it stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead role. Touted to be a female-oriented film, it is said to be based on real incidents that happened in Kodaikanal. The film's music is scored by Achu Rajamani, who earlier composed music for 'Urumeen' and 'Goli Soda 2', and the venture is bankrolled by Makers Studio.

'Ettu Thikkum Para' stars Samuthirakani and he plays a lawyer-activist in the plot. The film is directed by Keera, who has earlier helmed films like 'Merlin' and 'Pacchai Enginra Kaathu'. The film also stars Chandini Tamilarasan and Nithish Veera in supporting roles.

The story of 'Indha Nilai Maarum' is about a business fight between young entrepreneurs who start an internet radio station, and a magazine publishing corporate. The film stars Ram Kumar Sudarshan, Ashwin Kumar, Chaams and YG Mahendra in important roles. It is directed by V Arunkanth and the music of the film is scored by Allen Sebastian. It is produced by Siva and Viji.

'College Kumar' features Prabhu, Rahul Vijay, Priya Vadlamani, Madhubala, Najeer, Manobala, Charms, and Shiva amongst others. The film is a romantic drama and is the official remake of the 2017 Kannada hit film ‘College Kumar’. Qutub E Kripa has scored the music for the film, while the cinematography is handled by Guru Prashanth Rai. The film is directed by Hari Santhosh and produced by L Padmanabha.
