Tamil movies that killed the lead character in the first half of the film

Kollywood movies have had the concept of having more than one male lead and female lead in the movie. But a few movies, to make the plot stronger with emotional quotient or while trying to add an essence to the flashback of the main character, kill their love interest or an important person of the lead actor’s life to keep the story engaging.

Here are a few movies that had a few actors and actresses whose role was killed in between the movie.

Director ‘Atlee’ debuted in the industry with the film ‘Raja Rani’. The film featured Arya, Nayanthara, Nazriya and Jai. The film focuses on the relationship that Arya and Nayanthara had with Nazriya and Jai respectively before they got married. Arya loses Nazriya in an accident and his life changes after that. He is forced to marry Nayanthara who is made to believe that her love interest Jai has also passed away.

‘Imaikkaa Nodigal’ featuring Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Atharvaa, Raashi Khanna and Anurag Kashyap was released in 2018. Vijay Sethupathi who acts as Nayanthara’s husband in the film is killed in an accident. Nayanthara's character who was pregnant at the time is a police official. She tries to seek revenge on those who were responsible for Vijay Sethupathi’s death.

‘Petta’ featuring Rajinikanth, Simran, Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddique, Sasikumar and Trisha was released in 2019. Trisha appears in a cameo role in the movie as Rajinikanth’s wife. In a gang war between two families, Rajinikanth’s wife Trisha and his son are killed. After losing his entire family, Rajinikanth flees away from the town with his friend’s wife and their kid to protect them from the enemies.

‘Theri’ film featuring Vijay, Samantha and Amy Jackson was a cop story. Samantha married Vijay after falling in love with him. When the couple is happy and starts a new family with their baby, Vijay’s enemies kill Samantha in the movie. After losing Samantha, Vijay leaves the police force and moves to another state and becomes a common man in order to raise his daughter.
