Politics and films are connected to each other in Tamil Nadu,in one way or the other. From the likes of MGR,Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa to Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan,who recently forayed into politics,film personalities have taken the plunge into public affairs.So,it’s not a surprise that political films always evoke interest among movie buffs. SARKAR Like a few previous films of Vijay,this one is said to deal with politics,too.The first look of this much-expected movie,which has Vijay and Murugadoss teaming up for the third time,triggered a heated debate as the star was seen smoking in it.The crew will be flying to the US soon to shoot the remaining portions.The big-budget flick,which has Keerthy Suresh as its leading lady,and AR Rahman as its composer,has been slotted as a Deepavali release.


NGK Ever since the film, which sees Suriya and Selvaraghavan joining hands for the first time,was announced,there has been speculation that it would be a political thriller.The two posters that have been released so far also add weight to these rumours.The shoot of NGK (abbreviation of Nandha Gopalan Kumaran),is almost 60 per cent complete.Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet will be seen playing the female leads, while Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music.The film was initially planned as a Deepavali release,but now,the makers have announced that it will make it to theatres only a little later.


MAANADU Though Venkat Prabhu’s Party is yet to hit screens,the director surprised fans by announcing that he will be collaborating with Simbu in his next.Earlier,there were speculations that the filmmaker will be doing a sequel to one of his hit films, Mankatha . But Venkat Prabhu dispelled the rumours when he announced the project’s title — Maanadu with the tagline ‘A Venkat Prabhu Politics’.The poster,too,gives us hint that the movie belongs to the political genre.The rest of the cast and crew of the film, which is slated for a 2019 summer release,is yet to be finalised.

LKG RJ Balaji turns hero with LKG ,in which he will be playing a politician.The film,directed by Prabhu,has Priya Anand as the female lead and Leon James as its music director.Balaji himself has written the screenplay for the movie,which was launched during the IPL tournament a couple of months ago. Former politician Nanjil Sampath will be seen in a crucial role in it.Before the film went on floors,Balaji had revealed that he had interacted with a lot of people’s representatives,including ministers from different constituencies,to pen the script.

debut with Anand Shankar’s NOTA .The bilingual flick has Nenjil Thunivirunthal fame Mehreen Pirzaada as its female lead.There are reports doing the rounds that Vijay will be seen playing the role of a chief minister in this political thriller,which has music by Sam CS.The first look of the project,which had Vijay showing his inked middle finger,had garnered the attention of movie buffs.

ANNANUKKU JAI The film,starring Dinesh as its protagonist,evoked curiosity with its first poster,which had the actor reading a book titled ‘How to become a Chief Minister in 30 days?’.The trailer of the movie,which released a few days ago,gives a glimpse of its politically charged plot — caste issues,hunger for power, betrayal,and so on.Directed by Rajkumar, Annanukku Jai , which has Arrol Corelli and Mahima Nambiar as its music director and heroine respectively,is expected to hit screens soon.
