Sushmita Sens critically acclaimed Kalpana Lajmi directed Chingaari (2006), has been dubbed in Tamil as Peyar Sandhya, Thozil Dasi (PSTD). The film is hot in the dubbing market for its steamy scenes and coarse language.
Says Elangov, a distributor and importer of foreign films, who has dubbed the film into Tamil, PSTD has great potential as it is based on a real story and set in the house of a commercial sex worker played by Sushmita Sen.

The story is about a love triangle between a prostitute, a postman and a priest in a village near Mysore. Kalpana Lajmi explores the devadasi system in the film and the exploitation of a sex worker by a village Aghori priest played by Mithun Chakravarthy, a sadist who likes to brutally rape girls.
The movie is based on the novel, The Prostitute and the Postman by Bhupen Hazarika. It is a commentary on the abuse of power and in particular, discusses the Bohemian lifestyle of the Aghori priests in the country.
Sushmita had received rave reviews for her performance in this woman-oriented film with a gory climax. The Tamil dubbing, after a battle with the censors, has been issued a UA certificate.
Meanwhile, PSTD has been getting a lot of inquiries from distributors in Tamil Nadu. Says Elangov, We are planning to release the film by the end of March during the examination season on 30 to 35 screens. The film will definitely reach its target audience as Sushmita is a Ulaga Azhagi.
