Suriya's studio bags Ajiths film

Studio Green, the production house run by K E Gnanavel Raja, Suriya's cousin, has acquired the rights of Ultimate Star Ajith's forthcoming flick Mankatha. The film, directed by Venkat Prabhu, will see Ajith in an anti-hero role and also stars Trisha, Arjun, Anjali, Premgi and Vaibhav among others.
Mankatha, which was produced by Cloud Nine owned by Dhayanidhi Alagiri, is expected to hit the screens during the Ramzan-Vinayakar Chathurthi weekend.However, some distributors were planning to prevent the film from releasing during this period unless Dhayanidhi compensated them for the losses they incurred with his previous releases Va Quarter Cutting and Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai.
In a smart move, now, Dhayanidhi has sold the entire rights of the film (except the international rights) to Gnanavel Raja. The deal will mark the first time Studio Green, which has so far been associated with only films by Suriya and Karthi, will market a film with another star in the lead.
